July 1, 2010

Its been a busy few weeks in the Bubble.  Suzy has arrived and is keeping Connor and I company.  Summer has kicked in and we have made a few outings to the beach, the pool and everyone's favorite summertime park on Coronado Island.  It has been an unusually sunny June for San Diego, but there's still a gloom where my husband should be.  We are doing our best to make the most of it and keep our minds off the noticeable absence.

We went to the pool a few weeks ago, and I actually got in the water!! You would be so proud :)   I thought of you and had to take a picture.  No, I didn't get my hair wet!!

Since it is getting so hot in the bubble these days, it is time to bust out the short-sleeved cotton onesies.  I found this gem in the back of the drawer and thought it would be good for a photo-op at least.  He is supporting his daddy.  Our hero!!

We made the trip to Coronado for the Lindbloms last Sunday in San Diego.  They would never miss their last chance to hit the Concert in the Park and we wouldn't miss the opportunity to say farewell in proper style.  The regular crew made the trip - The Toths, Moores, Sheehys, DeeDee and lots of friends from the Lindbloms neighborhood.  Connor hung out with the men to get a little testosterone time - otherwise known as male bonding.  Jim tried to show him how to fist bump and burp like a real man.  I assured him that he burps quite well for the young man that he is.

We had a fun time!  Connor even made it all the way to the end without crying.

We had a very cool day on Monday due to some June gloom.  The perfect weather for a sweater hoodie!  Could he be any cuter?  This picture is making the rounds among the Duffy family circle and is a big hit.

June 7, 2010

Greetings from The Bubble!  We had a busy week preparing for Suzy's arrival and trying out daycare for the first time!

Monday was Memorial Day and of course, our 2 year anniversary.  We received some beautiful flowers from Daddy!  They are pink roses and lillies and are shockingly still alive now!  Somehow I managed to remember to water them.  Maybe because they are so pretty?  They make the whole kitchen smell great.  Thank you daddy for remembering.  I love you very much.

For the rest of the week, Connor and I just cleaned the house and made sure to clean up before Hurricane Suzy arrived.  He has been sleeping like an angel thus far and is generally sleeping about 8/9 hours a night. He goes to bed somewhere around 9pm and wakes up around 6:30AM.  I feed him then and he goes back to sleep for another few hours until around 8:30AM.  It has made a world of a difference for both of us.  He generally wakes up happy and not even really crying.  I can tell he is doing very well!!  Here is a pic of the little angel.

Suzy arrived on Friday and we went to the Marathon Expo at the Convention Center downtown.  Lots of crazy people running the marathon were there as well as desperate advertisers.  One clever company called Shoe Dogs had some poor kids dress up as dogs and harass people in the lobby.  Connor didn't know what to think but I thought it was kind of cute. :)

On Saturday, the Sheehy's hosted their going away party for the Lindbloms and Russ.  It was a theme party titled East Coast vs. West Coast and people were directed to dress up in garb reflecting their favorite coast.  Russ outdid everyone in khakis, collared shirt and a salmon tie.  Ryan was strangely dressed as a greasy mechanic and your boy was California casual in a polo shirt and jeans.  He hung out with the guys in the mancave garage and took a pic in front of Alice - the beer dispensing refrigerator.  I think he is already accepted as part of the group.

Sunday was the marathon and the Lindbloms had kindly offered to watch Connor for the morning, so I took them up on it.  Thank god for them because there was no way I would have been able to maneuver the nightmare shuttle/trolley system by myself with him.  It was also hot and sunny and since Connor is cursed with our pasty fair skin, I presume our son would have gotten as sunburned as me.  They had a big morning going to the dog beach at Coronado and the Lindbloms had fun pretending to have another kid.  Connor flirted with the girls and got some beach time in while mom braved the crowds.

I went to the Lindbloms to pick him up and stayed around for a few beers before heading home.  Connor knew I needed some down time so he took a nap while Shannon and I caught up. He had a big morning!

We love you daddy!

May 30, 2010

The first full week of single mothehood is now over but it was tougher than expected.  The little guy and I did our best to keep busy around town while at the same time settling back into a daily routine. I think a little stability for he and both is a good thing.  On Monday, Connor got a bath and was looking particularly cute in his bath towel afterwards.  I had to take a picture.

We took alot of walks around the neighborhood down to our beach which is starting to get crowded.  On Thursday we needed a little change of scenery so we went to the park in Encinitas with Karen and Lucy.  Here is a picture of us just hanging out and enjoying the beautiful weather.

Connor is sporting his new outfit that he got from Aunt Tara.  His shirt says - I only surf little waves.  Too freakin' cute.  That's right - we are saving the big waves for next year!  This may be my most favorite outfit of his yet.

We miss daddy very much!

Second day home alone - only 206 more to go.  Another beautiful day in the bubble - although quite windy.  Strong gusts blew through all night and all day today.  That didn't deter Connor and I from taking a walk to the beach and heading up to our spot.  The gusts made for choppy waves but a lovely picture.

Short week so not much to post yet.  Connor and I are just trying to get back into a routine.  The goal is to get the little man to sleep to 5:30am again.  He hasn't done it in a few days but I know he has it in him.

Just had a mini earthquake as I am typing this!
